Cynthia Decker To Feature In The Crow Show

THE CROW SHOW 2018 is the fourth annual exhibition of visual arts running from February 2 – 25, 2018 at The Studio Door (San Diego, CA).

Having taken on mythological importance, Crows appear in all parts of the world. In folklore, they may foreshadow tragedy or usher in good news. The reality is a highly intelligent bird capable of social interactions. In recent years, the crow has become a muse to many artists.

Cynthia Decker's work "Net Worth" will be featured in the show. "Net Worth" is an image of a crow perched atop his pile of treasure. Crows are natural collectors, as are many humans, and in this work Cynthia has drawn a parallel between the two. The irony of selling a framed version of an image that pokes a little fun at the desire to acquire is an added bonus.

Cynthia Decker Is Artist Of The Month At Renderosity.com

March 2017: Renderosity.com is the largest online digital art community. It's a place for CG artists to see and share digital artwork, and to buy and sell 2d and 3d content.

Cynthia Decker (aka Curious3D) has been a member of Renderosity since 2002. Her work is often playful and surrealistic, but always well-crafted with a careful attention to detail. She tends to work mostly with VUE, the 3D application that allows you to create worlds and environments. Cynthia likes to push the boundaries of what is possible, describing moments and emotions in her own visual style. She has a poets eye for imagery and wants to tell visual stories around complex ideas.

"One of my goals as an artist is to make people want to see more, or know more, when they look at one of my pictures. I want to pique their curiosity and hold them in my idea for a moment or two."

Cynthia Decker Featured In Digital Art Live Magazine

This issue has a series of artists that were influenced by the classic adventure Myst game released back in 1993. It was originally designed by Rand and Robyn Miller and included key work by 3D artist and animator Chuck Carter who we also interview in this issue, on his latest game ZED.

Each scene from Myst was modelled and rendered inStrataVision 3D, with some additional modeling inMacroModel. It was time consuming in the making, but a memorable classic was born. Myst remained the best selling PC game for almost a decade.

Myst had something that other games yearned for – an ability to captivate the player, dropping them into a world they could believe, for the duration of their time in it, was real. In this, Myst achieved the Holy Grail of computer gaming – a truly immersive experience.

You can see that Cynthia Decker’s artwork featured in this issue has had some influence from Myst. She reminisces:

“From the moment the program started, I was in...

Beginning in January 2-17, the artwork of Cynthia Decker will be available at The Art Mecca of Charleston, 427 King St, Charleston, SC. Located in the heart of downtown Charleston, on a charming busy street filled with wonderful shops and popular restaurants.

In 2013, artists Mackenzie King and Kelly Wenner Grossman were sharing a small studio space on the old naval base. One day they had an idea: Open a progressive art gallery that would allow us to highlight local emerging artists, have live art demonstrations and events, and have studio space of their own. While Charleston has plenty of art galleries, Mackenzie and Kelly believed there was a place for something different. The Art Mecca was born.

Today the Art Mecca of Charleston is where some of the Southeast's most innovative rising artists congregate, and it's where locals and travelers alike find that special piece to give their...
